Plenty of precious metal! Students shine at creative awards worldwide

Students from the Department of Creative Technologies at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences caused a stir at several renowned creative competitions in late spring 2025: They won numerous gold, silver and bronze medals with projects from the fields of communication design, film and animation. Award ceremonies in Vienna, Hamburg and New York provided glittering highlights.

Successes at top national and international awards

The students won a total of seven awards - including two in gold, one in silver and four in bronze - at the Venus Award, the most important creative prize in Austria, presented by the Creativ Club Austria. The university is thus setting a powerful example for the Austrian creative scene.

At the ADC Talent Award, the most important competition for young talent in the German-speaking world with 266 entries, the young talents from Salzburg University of Applied Sciences also impressed across the board: a total of 19 prizes and honours were awarded - including six gold, three silver and five bronze nails.

The picture was similar on the international stage: at the Young Ones Award of the One Club for Creativity, which honours outstanding work from all over the world, projects from the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences received four gold, two silver and three bronze awards as well as numerous other honours. With this success, the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences secured a sensational 6th place in the global creative university ranking.

Award-winning projects with a strong message

One of the big winners was ‘The USB Paradox’ by Jonas Perkmann and Felix Foltas. This speculative advert (spec spot) for Apple won almost all the relevant awards for student productions: Gold at the CCA Venus Award, Gold at the ADC Talent Award, twice Gold at the Young Ones Award.

The exhibition ‘Nicht meine Baustelle’ by Alina Traun, Annika Braun, Anja Gutschmidt and Sebastian Scholtze was honoured with three gold nails in different categories at the ADC Talent Award. The exhibition encourages people to engage with democracy and political participation and has been shown in Salzburg and Vienna, among other places.

Lea Povacz and Hanna Chucholowius impressed the juries several times with their educational film ‘Drip’: the work was honoured at the One Screen Short Film Festival in New York and also won gold at both the ADC Talent Award and the Young Ones Award.

No less impressive: the animated film ‘Golden Strings’, which focuses on a complex mother-daughter relationship.
The elaborately produced work by Daniela Haider, Julia Langegger, Elja Stawinski and Lisa Lamprecht was also honoured with gold at the Young Ones Award.
